Hydraulic Pump Repair

The hydraulic pump is the heart of the system. Worn pumps cause weak functions, slow operation, and overheating. Repair requires clean conditions and proper technique.

General Steps:

Confirm pump failure with pressure testing and flow measurement.

Drain hydraulic reservoir to below pump level.

Disconnect all hydraulic lines from pump - cap immediately.

Remove pump mounting bolts and coupling to engine.

Remove pump and inspect drive coupling for damage.

Disassemble pump in clean environment.

Inspect gears, bearings, and seals for wear.

Gear pumps: check gear faces and housing. Piston pumps: check pistons and swashplate.

Replace worn components with quality parts or install rebuilt pump.

Reinstall pump with new seals and gaskets.

10

Prime pump, refill system, and test operation.
