Safety Notes

  • Incorrect fitting selection causes dangerous failures
  • Always match pressure ratings

General Steps:

1

Identify hose dash size (-4, -6, -8, etc.) which indicates 1/16" increments of ID.

2

Common fitting ends: straight, 45° elbow, 90° elbow, bulkhead.

3

Measure seat angle: 37° JIC is most common, 45° is also used.

4

Identify fitting gender: male has external threads, female has internal.

5

Swivel fittings rotate after assembly - fixed fittings do not.

6

Note hose type: 1-wire, 2-wire, 4-spiral - affects pressure rating.

7

Match fitting crimp style to hose type - crimps are not interchangeable.

8

Take photos and measurements to hydraulic shop for exact matching.
