Additional filtration improves hydraulic cleanliness beyond factory levels. Return line filters are most common for aftermarket installation.

- • Undersized filter causes restriction and heat
- • Change elements at recommended intervals
General Steps:
Select filter rating - 10 micron is common for supplemental filtration.
Identify return line from control valve to tank.
Mount filter housing in accessible location for element changes.
Cut return line and install filter fittings.
Ensure filter is rated for system flow and pressure.
Install bypass indicator if available - shows when filter is clogged.
Fill filter housing before starting to prevent air ingestion.
Check for leaks and verify proper flow direction.
