Glow Plug Replacement

Glow plugs preheat the combustion chamber for cold starts. Failed plugs cause hard starting or no-start conditions in cold weather.

Tools Required:

Deep socket setTorque wrenchAnti-seize compound

Safety Notes

  • Disconnect battery before service
  • Do not overtorque

General Steps:

Locate glow plugs on cylinder head.

Disconnect electrical connectors from plugs.

Use appropriate deep socket to remove plugs.

4

Inspect plug tips for damage or deposits.

Carbon buildup may indicate injection problems.

Apply anti-seize to new plug threads.

Install new plugs - hand start to avoid cross-threading.

Torque to specification.

Reconnect electrical connectors.
