Cylinder Rebuild Procedure

Leaking cylinders cause loss of power and contaminate the hydraulic system. Rebuilding with new seals restores function and prevents further damage.

Safety Notes

  • Cylinder components are heavy - use proper lifting
  • Keep all parts clean to prevent contamination

General Steps:

Lower attachment to relieve pressure and support with blocks.

Disconnect hydraulic lines and cap/plug all openings immediately.

Remove cylinder mounting pins.

Transport cylinder to clean work area.

Clamp cylinder barrel securely in vise with soft jaws.

Remove gland nut or end cap.

Carefully extract piston and rod assembly.

Inspect bore, rod, and piston for scoring or damage.

Clean all components and install new seals.

10

Reassemble, reinstall, and bleed air from system.
