Coolant Hose Replacement

Coolant hoses deteriorate over time causing leaks and overheating. Regular inspection and replacement prevents roadside failures.

  • Never open cooling system when hot
  • Coolant is toxic - dispose properly

General Steps:

Allow engine to cool completely before starting.

Place drain pan under radiator and open drain valve.

Loosen hose clamps at both ends of failed hose.

Twist and pull hose free from fittings.

Clean fitting surfaces to remove old hose residue.

Compare old and new hose for proper length and diameter.

Install new hose with proper clamps - worm gear type preferred.

Close drain and refill cooling system with appropriate coolant.

Run engine and check for leaks at connections.
