A/C System Installation

Adding air conditioning to an enclosed cab requires mounting the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and running refrigerant lines. This is a complex installation requiring HVAC knowledge.

Safety Notes

  • R134a is pressurized - use proper equipment
  • EPA certification required for refrigerant handling
  • Compressor belt can cause injury

General Steps:

Verify machine has enclosed cab suitable for A/C installation.

Select A/C kit sized for cab volume and climate conditions.

Mount compressor to engine using appropriate bracket.

Install drive belt from crankshaft to compressor pulley.

Mount condenser in location with good airflow - often near radiator.

Install evaporator unit inside cab - typically under dash or headliner.

Run refrigerant lines between compressor, condenser, and evaporator.

Install expansion valve and receiver/drier.

Wire compressor clutch and controls to electrical system.

Evacuate system and charge with R134a refrigerant.
