The control system used by the operator to maneuver the excavator's boom, arm, bucket, and travel functions.
Hydraulic pilot controls with joysticks - uses low-pressure pilot circuits to actuate control valves. Common on premium/larger machines (1.5+ ton class). Provides smoother, more precise operation with less operator fatigue.
Direct mechanical linkage joysticks - simpler system found on smaller/budget machines. More direct feel but can require more operator effort. Also called ISO joystick controls.
Two independent pilot control systems - typically for specialized applications requiring redundancy or dual-operator capability.
Direct hydraulic lever controls - older style mechanical-hydraulic systems without pilot circuits. Found on vintage or very basic machines.
